5-year-old missing out of Aspen has been found safe

DENVER (KDVR) — The Colorado Bureau of Investigation confirmed an endangered and missing 5-year-old boy out of Aspen was found safe Friday morning.When CBI issued the alert, law enforcement said they were very concerned for the child's safety.According to CBI, the 5-year-old was last seen on Thursday at around 11:45 p.m. CBI believes he was taken by 50-year-old Dagoberto Moreno-Romero. 2-month-old at center of Amber Alert found safe Police found the boy's mother suffering from significant injuries and believe Moreno-Romero made direct threats to harm the boy.Just before 8 a.m., CBI confirmed the boy was safe. They have not provided an update on the suspect.

The Steamship Authority said it is looking into the facts surrounding an incident Thursday afternoon where one of its ferries broke loose from a dock in Woods Hole. The ferry, identified as the M/V Sankaty, broke loose from the dock at the Authority’s Woods Hole Terminal shortly after 5 p.m., according to a statement from the Steamship Authority. The ferry then drifted north “a short distance” before coming to a stop at the dock of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, the Steamship Authority said. Officials said the ferry had been tied up for the day and was not in service when it broke free, meaning there were no crew, passengers or vehicles on board. Citing initial reports, the Steamship Authority said there was no damage to the ferry or the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution dock. The Steamship Authority said there were no reported injuries. The ferry had been returned to its dock and was cleared to sail by the Coast Guard as of Thursday night arou...

Study identifies Cape Cod as new shark hot spot

A new study from the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy has identified Cape Cod as a new hot spot for great white sharks. The study was published on Thursday and estimated about 800 sharks swam through waters off Cape Cod between 2015 and 2018. Researchers, in the study, said estimates of shark abundance “are needed to evaluate the performance of existing conservation measures for white shark populations worldwide but have historically been infeasible to obtain in the region.”Wildlife experts said sharks typically stay in the area off the Cape for anywhere from a few hours to a few weeks. The Atlantic White Shark Conservancy on Facebook said the study presents the first population estimate for white sharks off Cape Cod and measures the new white shark hot spot off Cape Cod as one of the largest in the world.
